Week 1- Standing Postures

This week, we explore a selection of Standing Postures—an ideal starting point for your practice. These poses help you feel grounded, stable, and strong in your body, while also building internal heat by activating the quadriceps, the largest group of muscles in the body. This makes them powerful for building strength and getting the body warm and engaged. On a mental level, Standing Postures enhance focus and concentration, helping quiet the mental chatter and bring you into a clearer, more present state of awareness.

We will cover some of the standing postures:

Mountain / Tadasana

Crescent Lunge / Anjaneyasana

Warrior One / Virabadhrasana One

Warrior Two / Virabadhrasana Two

Humble Warrior / Badda Virabadhrasana

Triangle / Trikonasana

Chair Pose / Uttkatasana

This Week's Inner Focus: BODY

This week, we invite you to gently explore your relationship with your body. So often, our inner dialogue is shaped by comparison, criticism, or the urge to "fix" ourselves. But what if you shifted the focus? What would it feel like to meet your body with compassion? To accept it as it is, and to honour all that it has carried you through?

American poet and philosopher Henry David Thoreau once said, “The body is the first instrument of the soul.” It is our first layer of awareness—and for many, the first gateway into the practice of yoga.

After your movement, take a few quiet minutes to journal six things you’re grateful for about your body—perhaps its strength, its resilience, or its ability to move, breathe, and heal. Let this be a loving conversation between you and the vessel that holds your soul.

“Yoga is not about touching your toes…it’s about what you learn on the way down” – Shiva Rae
