Yoga Foundations Starter Kit

Welcome to your journey

back to yourself.

We are so pleased you have decided to join us – teaching yoga is more than just work, it’s my passion. And the opportunity to introduce you to this practice and all of its benefits simply makes my day.

In this course you will gain a solid foundation in the physical practice of yoga, as well as an introduction to some of the philosophical components of yoga. Having a clear knowledge of the basics means you can confidently join any yoga class whether in a studio near you or any on demand platform.

Roughly 3000 years ago a fellow called Patanjali developed one of the most well known structures of Yoga that we still use today: The Eight Limbs of Yoga.

These eight ‘limbs’ or stages are the process that, according to Patanjali, take us towards enlightenment! Enlightenment or not – these complimentary aspects of the practice of yoga are what help us feel more centred, more joyful, and more peaceful in our everyday life.

The 8 Limbs are:

Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. Asana is our start point, the physical postures as the practice starts in our bodies. Over time it broadens to include our breathing, the awareness of our mind, the awareness of our emotions and work through the other steps.

Yoga offers a powerful range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits that support healing and whole-body wellbeing. It improves flexibility, strength, posture, and joint mobility while increasing blood flow, boosting immunity, and supporting heart health. Yoga also balances the nervous system, regulates the adrenals, enhances cognitive function, and lowers stress and anxiety. On a deeper level, it encourages self-care and inner connection—helping you feel more grounded, emotionally stable, and present. With regular practice, you may notice better sleep, clearer insight, and a stronger connection to your body, breath, and inner world.

“Yoga is essentially a practice for your soul, working through the medium of your body” – Tara Fraser
